How to Prepare for Relocating to Your New Office

Moving to a new office can be stressful. Going into it with an action plan can make the process go a lot smoother. We created a free checklist that you can use for the month prior to your move to make that transition easier on you and your employees. Let’s dive into a few other things that you should take into consideration prior to moving day.

Let the World Know You’re Relocating

Send out a press release to inform the community of the move. One thing you want to avoid doing is blind siding your current customers and employees with a surprise move. Before the new lease is officially signed, a plan should already be on the works for how you will inform others.

IT

Get help with disconnecting and re-connecting all things digital. Wifi and phone service is essential for most commercial businesses, so this step truly deserves your attention. One thing to keep in mind is that not all internet and phone providers operate in all area codes. Be sure to find out if you service can be transferred. If it can’t be, you will need to find an alternative in a timely manner.

Labeling is Essential

Develop a labeling system to make unpacking a breeze. Unpacking could take a lot longer than it needs to if boxes are not labeled properly. We recommend taking the labeling process a step further by creating a corresponding spreadsheet so that you know how many boxes you have for each room. This may feel like more work in the beginning, but it will pay off in the end.
